Using Political Posters for Learning About Social Policy in Social Work
摘要
Political posters are artefacts that visually represent societal issues, ideologies and movements. Integrating them into social work education through object-based learning (OBL) enhances critical thinking, cultural competence, professional judgement and decision-making, reflective practice, and social justice. By undertaking a three-stage process when viewing the posters, social work students develop a deeper understanding of historical and global/local contexts, power dynamics and oppressed populations. Using political posters in higher education settings facilitates interactive and experiential learning and fosters student engagement and dialogue. Through OBL with political posters, social work education becomes more dynamic, inclusive and relevant, empowering future social workers to engage in social action and social change.
