Enabling students to learn about their own well-being is a proactive strategy for maintaining resilience in the helping professions. Students entering these professions may have lived experiences which heighten their vulnerability. This activity acknowledges vulnerability and channels individual strengths into a collective resource for practice. The application of strengths-theory and trauma-informed educational principles enables students to collate data on coping strategies and analyse them collectively. Students achieve self-empowerment through collaboration, peer support and resource sharing. The process recognises lived experiences as a resource and enables students to realise their own potential. These classroom skills have wider implications for placement, maintaining resilience post-graduation and when working in direct practice.
