Human Intentionality Meets Algorithmic Reproduction: Interpreting AI-Generated Image
摘要
In recent years, AI technology has influenced the visual arts, sparking a re-evaluation of concepts such as the photographic ‘readymade’ and introducing the emergent practice of ‘promptography’. This paper looks into the heart of these transformations, drawing upon a tapestry of theoretical frameworks to explore the intersection of AI with traditional notions of art. It revisits the historical paradigm of the readymade through the lens of contemporary AI applications, contrasting these with mass-produced works. The discussion extends into the innovative realm of ‘promptography’, where prompts generate visual content. This paper tries to resolve the evolving relationship between image and meaning in the age of AI, introducing the concept of the ‘third place’ as a new interpretative space. In conclusion, this paper provides insight into the shifting trend of artistic production, challenging traditional boundaries and proposing new definitions for AI-generated image.
