As the technological landscape of screens evolves, it significantly shapes the creation of typography design and display. Modern typography, associated initially with print, has now expanded its applications to digital screens and beyond. Different fonts exhibit varying degrees of effectiveness in various formats. Some perform well in specific contexts, while others may need to be translated more effectively, suggesting that, in principle, on-screen text embodies innovative design principles for screen-based communication. Recognising the critical role screen typography plays in shaping reading experiences, especially during the initial educational phase of children with low vision, this research seeks to identify nuanced design elements that contribute to or hinder the readability and accessibility of textual content. Through adaptive typography design, iterative prototyping and user testing, this research will iteratively refine typographic innovations tailored to the specific requirements of children with low vision. Engagement with participants, educators, and experts in the field will further inform the development of inclusive design guidelines. The outcomes of this study aim to provide valuable insights for designers, educators, and stakeholders invested in creating inclusive and accessible educational materials for children with low vision.
