As articial intellingence (AI) tools are becomg ever more popular, design education reasearchers examine what impact AI through their publications This literature review investigates recent discourse on fostering idea generation skills within design education, specifically focusing on the integration of advanced technologies such as AI. By analyzing six papers published in 2024, this study identifies key criticisms and opportunities related to the use of generative AI tools. It highlights the balance required between leveraging AI capabilities and maintaining essential human elements like creativity and critical thinking. The review provides a comprehensive overview of current research, offers insights into the benefits and challenges of AI in design education, and suggests directions for future studies on optimizing the use of AI to enhance creative skills in learners.
