Impact Factors on Immersive Experiences of Visitors in Exhibition: A Preliminary Research
摘要
Currently many museums apply immersive technology in on-site exhibitions. The problem also arises with the increasing number of immersive exhibitions that some people are confused that the application of technology is too complicated, and they do not get any emotion and just watch the fun. This preliminary research examines immersive technology in the context of museum learning, focusing on exhibition. Using the method of questionnaire and quantitative analysis including Cross-tabulation and Correspondence Analysis, the paper tests the main factors influencing people’s willingness to visit museums. The results show that there is a strong relationship between demographic factors of visitors, immersive technology applications and exhibition themes, and it means that the scope of the immersive technology application should depend on the exhibition’s content with the purpose to enhance visitors’ embodied experience. It is important for curatorial teams to investigate how to better design layout and interaction patterns with the support of technology to increase the positive experience of the visitor.
