Exploring Positive Emotions Through Cinematic Virtual Reality in Head-Mounted Display: Lyric Video
摘要
Video in 360° format has been around for many years, and more artists have released their lyric videos in that format, also known as Cinematic Virtual Reality (CVR). Although immersive media is known for creating presence and embodiment, the study of lyric video as CVR is limited. The main objective of this study is to explore the effect of CVR on amplifying emotions through a head-mounted display (HMD). Following a prior Research through Design approach, a 360° lyric video was created with music and lyrics that provided positive emotions. The CVR was tested on young adults (n = 6) and analysed from semi-structured interviews with grounded theory. The study found that HMD familiarity significantly influences their emotional responses. Although a lyric video in CVR format provides a unique and exciting experience, it may not necessarily improve the understanding of the lyrics’ meaning. As VR technology becomes more prevalent, CVR lyric creators must innovate to provide a better experience.
