Facing the current state of apparent letharcity of the arts and a broader sense of nostalgia and cultural impotence in contemporary society, some electronic music artists are still able to create new and effective aesthetics that instrumentalize contingency and the accident as productive forces that resist Capitalism’s capture apparatus. Here we propose to analyze these strategies under 4 main categories that reflect different ways and moments of inclusion contingency processes within music creation. They are: improvisation, found chance, induced chance and misuse. One artist is selected as a case study to illustrate each of these categories, withdrawn from the contemporary Portuguese electronic music scene, and whose work is deprived of any former academic investigation. Qualitative interviews with the artists mentioned were used, done previously and in the context of a broader Ph.D. investigation, and proceeded to some theoretical analysis of their work, extracting some final thoughts that try to access their relevance and achievings, in the larger scope of the socio political sphere.
