Personality Correlates of AI Anxiety Among Young Adults
摘要
In the modern era, where we hear about artificial intelligence practically every day and the potential risks it presents, there are certain personality types who are more apprehensive in relation to usability of AI. The present research sought to understand the relationship between various personality factors given by Costa and Mc Crae (1992) and the anxiety associated with various aspects of artificial intelligence (AI), (artificial intelligence learning anxiety, job replacement anxiety, sociotechnical blindness, and AI configuration anxiety). NEO-FFI (Costa and McCrae in Revised NEO Personality Inventory and NEO Five-Factor Inventory: Professional manual. Psychological Assessment Resources, 1992) and AI Anxiety scale (Wang and Wang in Interact Learn Environ 30:619–634, 2019) were used to collect data from (N = 752) adults with the age range of 18–26 and the mean age of 22 years were selected in the present study. Pearson Product Moment correlational analysis were applied which revealed significant results that neuroticism positively correlates with AI anxiety, and all other aspects of AI Extraversion, Agreeableness whereas Conscientiousness is found to be negatively correlated with all dimensions of AI Anxiety and Openness to Experiences is found to be negatively correlated with all dimensions except Job Replacement Anxiety.
