Automation and Digitization are the highest strategic agenda in industry 4.0. Industries are in an urgency of spotting new ways to automate and digitize their business processes. A completely new method of business process automation has been made possible by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its affiliated technologies, including Machine Learning (ML), deep learning, Computer Vision, speech and face recognition, Natural Language Processing, Cognitive Automation (CA) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA). The ‘software solutions’ that simulate human–computer interactions and carry out repetitive organizational rules-based tasks, such as collecting and analysing data from various systems, retrieving and reformatting data into reports and dashboards, or reading and writing to databases, are known as ‘virtual robots’ in Robotic Process Automation. Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) merges the Robotic Process Automation with AI and ML. IPA extends the capabilities of RPA by mimicking the tasks and absorbs them to do them even better. It is imperative that RPA move closer to Intelligent Process Automation (IPA). Although RPA offers are fantastic and really valuable, there are drawbacks as well. Enhancing the decision-making capabilities of RPA-implemented business processes through the use of AI-enabled technologies is the main research problem. This paper investigates the subject of cognitive intelligence in software robots. Robotic process automation (RPA) bots can perform critical operations autonomously and seamlessly work with people by including these cognitive functions. The suggested enhancements address the inevitable inclusion of cognitive intelligence in RPA and offer notable breakthroughs in the development of intelligent robots.
