Integrating Modern Technology in Twenty-First-Century Persian Language Classrooms
摘要
Advances in technology have afforded the capability of significantly enhancing students’ language learning experience and their engagement with the target language both inside and outside the classroom. This chapter explores how modern technology can be integrated into Persian language classrooms to provide learners with optimal language learning opportunities. Guided by a social constructivist approach, it discusses the practical selection and application of technological tools in the context of Persian language teaching. It examines specific smartphone apps, software programs, and augmented and virtual reality platforms and demonstrates their application in classrooms by providing examples of activities that can be completed by students. Through task-based activities such as digital storytelling through the augmented reality app, furnishing of a house in the virtual world, and virtual tours based on 360 video and images, this chapter argues that carefully planned use of technology can increase collaboration and active participation, facilitate access to authentic language materials, provide an immersive experience to language learners by virtually bridging the distance between students and Iran and other Persian-speaking societies, and ultimately improve language learning outcomes.
