This book focuses on the role of institutionalization as one of the most significant factors for the presence of party fragmentation and solidity. In this sense, four factors related to institutionalization should be given attention when evaluating and examining solidity and fragmentation within a party. The four include (1) policy-making based on the existing rules of the game; (2) systemic caderization as a means of socialization and determination of a cadre’s career; (3) the presence of conflict resolution mechanisms (CRM) that can provide authoritative decisions in terminating problems potential to produce conflicts; and (4) unification of perception on ideology or shared ideals through value infusion carried out by party’s apparatus.
