As determined by phytochemical investigation, numerous Bidens plants contain bioactive substances, including phenolic acids, terpenoids, polyacetylenes, and flavonoids. The pharmacological activity of these phytoconstituents is diverse and includes hepatoprotective, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties. For several generations, people from many cultures have used the species of Bidens in traditional medicine. Infections, gastrointestinal issues, and inflammatory problems are just a few of the disorders for which Bidens pilosa has been used throughout Asia. Skin diseases, fever, and malaria have all been treated using Bidens species in African traditional medicine. Bidens plants have also been used for their analgesic, wound-healing, and anti-inflammatory qualities. Furthermore, a growing body of research validates the potential of Bidens species in functional foods and nutraceutical formulations. In preclinical research, extracts and isolated chemicals from Bidens plants have shown promise in treating chronic illnesses like diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular conditions. Even yet, more investigation is necessary to clarify the molecular mechanisms of action, improve extraction methods, standardize formulations, and assess the safety profiles of products based on Bidens.
