This chapter advances the case of secondary agriculture from the preceding two chapters by highlighting the rich diversity and high magnitude of the agri-produce available in the country inclusive of both primary and co-produce. It substantiates with data and information the scope that the bioresources of the country provide to be processed to generate multiple bioproducts including food and non-food products, besides high-end bio-products like bio-materials, bio-enzymes, bio-fuels, etc. by applying appropriate technology. The physiological structure of the various primary and co-produce is also analysed for rational appreciation. It may be appreciated that the extent of food processing in the country, though better than that of non-food processing, is still at subpar level, and by strengthening the level of both food and non-food processing, the value of agriculture can be upgraded in multiple ways including returns to the farmers on investments, creation of jobs, and generation of productive jobs.

摘要
