Polymers are a class of materials that have changed the lifestyle of humankind with fascinating functional applications. Among the various classes of polymers, shape memory polymers have attracted scientific interest due to their peculiar nature of stimuli-induced shape memory effect. The ability of shape memory polymers to regain their original state both at the microscopic and macroscopic levels is highly beneficial for their application in advanced 3D, 4D, and 5D printing technologies. In this chapter, we discuss the various aspects of shape memory polymers such as their intrinsic properties, classifications, and potential applications. The preparation of various composites with shape memory polymers is included with detailed discussion. The application of shape memory polymers in various advanced printing technologies such as 3D, 4D, and 5D printing are emphasized although a small description is involved in their other applications.
