This chapter offers a broad perspective on the historical patterns of Indian migration to Indonesia, spanning various time periods, with a particular focus on the recent trend of contemporary high skilled Indian migration to Indonesia. There is evidence indicating that Indonesia is emerging as an increasingly attractive destination for Indian migrants, with a majority of those relocating being highly skilled professionals. The rise in Indian high skilled migrants in Indonesia has been accompanied by enhancements in bilateral relations and rising Indian investments in Indonesia. The paper concludes by discussing the historical and structural factors limiting Indian high skilled migration to Indonesia.
