This chapter examines the migration trajectory, social networks, and diasporic life of Indians in Brunei Darussalam. Indians in Brunei include Bruneians of Indian descent (first and second generation) and also recently-arrived professionals (third or fourth generations). First- and second-generation migrants are different from third-generation and higher “natives” by their generational status, but those of allochthonous background are differentiated by their self-reported ancestry. Regardless of their origin, the diaspora community prioritizes preserving ties with their adopted home and their nation of origin in terms of identity formation. Their children have been inspired to follow suit. Integrating into Bruneian traditions has been an additional effort for them. By recognizing commonalities and developing regional and global chains that connect people, businesses, and communities closer together, existing links must be enhanced. In light of altering geopolitical implications, relations between India and Brunei could be strengthened.
