Insights into Nutritional Properties of Plant Proteins for Health Benefits
摘要
Plant-based products having high protein content are in demand and will increase significantly over the next decade. This surge in popularity is attributed to several key factors: the impending fitness aids accompanied by higher consumption of plant-associated diets, consumer reluctance over the adverse health effects of diets high in animal protein (such as the increased saturated fat content), an escalating awareness among consumers about the importance of environmental sustainabilitysustainability in food production, ethical issues concerning the treatment of animals, and a widespread belief in the healthfulness of proteins. While diets rich in plant-based proteins can offer health and physical function advantages, the nutritional value of plant proteins may be lacking in certain areas compared to animal proteins. This review delves into the nutritional features of plant proteins and outlines effective approaches for incorporating them to meet amino acid requirements. It also summarizes research on plant proteins’ potential health and physical function benefits and addresses potential safety issues related to increased consumption.
