Since the past decade, people in India have been shifting toward supermarkets offering consumers more choices, convenience, and a modern shopping experience. However, the supermarket system itself harbors inherent flaws and challenges that impose cognitive burdens on both customers and employees, despite the convenience brought about by this shift. This research paper undertakes a thorough examination of the cognitive difficulties experienced within the environment of supermarkets and also covers the consequences of automation and its impact on employment. This approach involved a streamlined process with on-site observations, interviews, and soft document reviews, and surf cognitive problems was the most in the billing system due to repetitive processes and tasks. Our proposed solution aims to reduce the cognitive difficulties and problems experienced by both customers and employees during the billing process via maximizing supermarkets with system redesign, assisted self-checkout, and enhanced POS interfaces specifically altered for India considering factors like employment, literacy, population, and adaptability of technology among common people. This system not only eases the billing process, but also eliminates the confusion caused by labels in the rack.
