Evaluating the Effect of Changing the Popliteal Height on Sitting Posture for Human Ergonomics
摘要
Popliteal height is a critical anthropometric parameter of seating ergonomics, with profound implications for health, comfort, and performance in various seating tasks, including offices, vehicles, and home environments. This paper explores and investigates the significance of seating height (popliteal) in relation to human seating ergonomics. It also examines the effects of changing popliteal height on individuals’ seating postures. The optimized popliteal height data for 100 subjects is measured and collected using a customized rig device developed at Avantika University, Ujjain. The data collected is later validated with the standard dataset. The comfortable seating height is calculated in terms of standing height. It is achieved by establishing the relationship between popliteal height and standing height. The results will provide insights to the various designers and individuals to create ergonomically seating solutions that enhance overall well-being and productivity.
