The Role of ICT in the Empowerment of Women: Catalyst for Socio-economic Development
摘要
Information and communication technology (ICT) serves as a cornerstone in women empowerment especially in a developing nation like India. The study involved gathering insights from women with different levels of education, emphasizing the important connection between basic education and digital literacy. It highlights how education serves as a vital stepping stone for women to harness the power of ICT, opening doors to new opportunities and empowerment. Numerous statistical analyses, including the Pearson Chi-Square and Kruskal–Wallis tests, highlighted the existence of a strong correlation between education levels and technology dependence, with higher educational attainment directing the need for an increase in ICT utilization. Factor analysis helps identify two primary dimensions: digital literacy and dependence on technology, the major contributors to women empowerment. This paper ultimately stresses on the transformative potential that ICT holds in bridging gaps across genders and promoting equality along with redressal of the barriers that obstruct the complete implementation of ICT.
