This book explored the significance of constraints in TS and their implications for research, pedagogy, and practice. In essence, it is an attempt to push the epistemological assumptions concerning constraints. In the framework I presented, functional, eco-systemic constraints configurations are a necessary step to detect or perceive affordances, and to acquire a posture, which are beneficial in class and in the practice of translation. Furthermore, the sociological side of posture enables conducting studies focussed only on the posture of a translator, without necessarily looking at constraints. The concept of translator’s posture emerged as a central theme, encompassing three main branches: (1) how translators embody their professional roles in their domain of practice; (2) decision-making within t-events, and (3) postural learning. The first branch provides insights into the social reality of translators’ professional identities and contributes to literary theory and sociology.
