With the advance of technologies, a new revolution in the approaches to assessment has taken place all across the digital age. Information has evolved as a means of evaluating, and technological means of evaluating work as a substitute for the inadequacies of conventional assessment techniques. There are several advantages that legislation for assessment supported by technology includes the possibility of offering timely feedback to the learners. This research article aims at discussing the fundamental and theoretical ideas of technology-based assessment with special reference to the examination of assistive, simulative, and linear-on-the-fly tests. Assistive technology-enabled assessment models use technology to provide support and direction to learners who have impairments or special needs. Linear-on-the-fly test (LOFT) technology employs dynamic assessment models to generate test questions based on learners’ responses, leading to a personalized assessment experience. LOFT technology-enabled assessment models include the capacity to adjust the degree of difficulty of questions according to learners’ progress, guaranteeing that they are appropriately challenged. As we advance in the digital domain, the use of technology-driven assessment will gain more importance in the field of education. Technology-enabled assessment has the potential to transform assessment methodologies by delivering learners enhanced and more equitable opportunities to demonstrate their learning.
