CONTEXTS AND THEIR EFFECTS: The Contemporary Breakdown of Inherited Meaning
摘要
This chapter reiterates the inter-related social, religious and educational contextual changes mentioned in Chapter 1 and acknowledges the historical background to each. It canvasses the significance of the Reformation, the Enlightenment and the Revolutionary Age and their influence upon the seismic socio-cultural changes of the immediate post-war decades within the process of the dissolution of previously held social meaning systems. It argues for the centrality of an anthropological revision in the process of the reimagining of the Catholic school, preparing the ground for later discussion of Christian Humanism.
