Rapid Development of a Construction Data Dashboard Using Low-Code Programming

The construction industry is undergoing a digital transformation, with data-driven decision-making becoming pivotal for enhancing efficiency and productivity. This paper explores the development of dashboards for visualizing construction process data, emphasizing the advantages of using Node-RED for rapid dashboard development. The necessity for such dashboards in the construction industry is discussed, highlighting how they facilitate real-time monitoring, improved project management, and better resource allocation. The study employs a prototype development methodology, leveraging Node-RED's low-code environment to create a web-based dashboard for monitoring GNSS data in an urban excavation project. Key features of the prototype include real-time data retrieval from cloud storage, automated data processing, and dynamic visualization of structural vibrations and tilting. The outcomes demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of low-code approaches in rapidly deploying custom dashboards for construction projects.
