This study assesses the performance of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) software tools for New Zealand’s construction sector, focusing on their suitability for embodied carbon calculations. A hybrid point-based and threshold-based rating system evaluated tools across six categories. SimaPro and openLCA scored highest at 87.43% and 85.58%, respectively, while LCAQuick, eTool, and IE4B scored above 60%. However, no tool was universally superior to others, with issues like limited databases and complex interfaces identified. The findings highlight the need for improved standardisation, user-friendliness, and method flexibility, calling for collaboration between developers and users to drive innovation.

摘要
