Amongst the implications of climate change that are making coastal communities more sensitive and vulnerable are rising sea levels, coastal erosion, and stronger storms. A combination of adaptation and mitigation strategies is needed to address these challenges that communities face to help diminish the losses. Adaptation strategies entail identifying the vulnerabilities and building resilient infrastructure, such as seawalls that consider the future sea-level projections, including protecting and restoring the natural coastal defenses such as mangroves and coral reefs. Also, increasing the public awareness of the hazards associated with climate change can further help mitigate efforts that aim to encourage the transition to renewable energy resources and promote energy-efficient, sustainable options such as compact land use planning and promoting climate-resilient livelihoods such as ecotourism and salt-tolerant plants, which reduce dependence on climate-vulnerable sectors. Thus, a multifaceted approach is required that incorporates proper infrastructure planning, management of early warning systems and disaster preparedness, and legal frameworks. By addressing these challenges and implementing these strategies coastal communities can enhance their resilience and facilitate a sustainable future in the face of climate change. The findings of this study are expected to offer valuable insights for those working in the fields of environmental policy, community development, and climate change adaptation.
