Cervical cancer (CC) is one of the major global burdens on women’s health. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, highly conserved noncoding RNAs 18–22 nucleotides in length. MicroRNA clusters (MCs), comprising multiple miRNA-encoding genes, play a vital role in typical biological processes, including the differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis of cells via an intricate network of gene regulation. Cervical cancer types have well-defined miRNA signatures that are correlated with diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy selection because of their distinct expression patterns in normal, premalignant, and tumor tissues. MiRNAs act as double edge swords in the development of cervical cancer because of their oncogenic and tumor suppressor nature. Moreover, research is currently being conducted on the application of miRNAs as cancer therapeutic targets. In the present study, we focused on the role of miRNAs in CC development and highlighted the clinical relevance of abnormal MC expression in CC.
