In order to deeply and objectively feel the non-motorized cycling environment of urban roads, this paper takes the urban road network on the island of Xiamen, China, as the research object, and comprehensively evaluates the non-motorized cycling conditions on the island in terms of the continuity, comfort, and safety of non-motorized lane settings. Assessment results show that nearly 50% of the research road non-motorized cycling conditions comprehensive evaluation results above 0.5, Hubin East Road, Qianpu South Road and other roads non-motorized cycling space continuity is better; Fanghu East Road, Changshang Road and other roads non-motorized cycling space continuity is worse. Finally, based on the assessment results, corresponding improvement suggestions are made in three aspects, namely, safeguarding non-motorized rights of way, optimizing non-motorized lanes and enhancing traffic organization.
