With accelerated growth in the rail transit industry, high-speed data transmission become more and more necessary. Optical communication is a featuring high speed, reliability, and flexibility serial interface communication technology. Also, the parallel processing capability of FPGA is especially advantageous in applications requiring high data throughput or real-time performance. Due to its flexibility and reconfigurability, FPGA is frequently used for prototyping new systems. Implementing serial communication between multiple FPGA boards through optical fiber interfaces integrates the aforementioned advantages. This research work is to design a optical digital communication system with multiple FPGA boards, which can transmitted serially. In order to enable high-speed and reliable transmission among the FPGA boards, the new reliable protocol will be made.
