Engineered nanomaterialsNanomaterials (ENMs)Engineered Nanomaterials (ENMs) have transformed a number of industries, thanks to their special qualities and capabilities. However, worries over their possible effects on the environment have been raised by their growing production and extensive use. An overview of risk assessment techniques for ENMs and the related environmental risks is given in this chapter. The aspects of ENMs that affect their behavior in the environment are discussed, including size, shape, and surface features. Comprehensive analyses are performed on the risk characterization, exposure assessment, toxicity assessment, and environmental destiny of ENMs. This chapter’s foremost aim is to discuss the regulatory frameworks, new developments in the industry, and methods for risk management and reduction. The applicability of risk assessment approaches to particular ENMs is demonstrated through the presentation of case studies in the present work.
