This chapter describes general problems that arise in formalizing legal documents, and identifies some instances of these problems in SAFE contracts. It discusses open texture concepts, ambiguity, and incompleteness in the text, as well as openness of the context in which the SAFE appears. It also identifies a difference in the time of performance of action and the time of related enforcement as an issue in implementing SAFEs as smart contracts.
