摘要

Technology has advanced over the years and the pace has escalated recently with the growing use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. This, in turn, has raised the expectations of the stakeholders in many industries. We need to embrace advanced technology in new dimensions, adopt digitilisation transformation and provide innovative solutions while creating systems that are environmentally sustainable in offshore industries. The world is facing population growth (projected population 9.8 billion by 2050), increased urbanisation, and global warming. Hence the world needs to address UN sustainable development goals and energy trilemma (availability, affordability, and sustainability). We have only one PLANET for people and nature. There is no viable alternative. The future cannot be just about more, it must be about better. This paper provides an overview of recent advances in offshore data acquisition and processes, and changes in mindset in offshore markets especially the energy and water sectors. Understanding Geo-data is the key to planning, constructing, and operating any structure on earth. A few cases will be used to illustrate the need to serve more sophisticated clients by providing innovation solutions, namely (1) a holistic approach towards integrating Geo-data from various disciplines, (2) a Geo-data platform, VirGeo®, and (3) remote operations and robotics.
