Emergence of the Learning Sciences in South Korea: Current Landscape and Future Directions
摘要
The learning sciences field in South Korea is still in its early stages and emerging through interdisciplinary contributions from cognitive science, educational psychology, and educational technology. Recently, the field has gained significant momentum, with several leading universities in Seoul establishing research institutes and academic programs focused on the learning sciences. This chapter examines the current developments of the learning sciences in South Korea by providing an overview of the field’s history, current status, and future directions. The authors discuss the research topics and methodological approaches commonly pursued within Korea’s unique research context and how Korean research and perspectives on the learning sciences intersect with broader international academic discourses. Furthermore, the challenges faced in establishing a strong foundation for the field are presented, and potential pathways for its continued growth and institutionalization are proposed.
