Character Education: Realizing the SDGs in Welcoming a Golden Indonesia
摘要
Sustainable Development Goal 4 focuses on quality education to ensure equitable and inclusive education and lifelong learning opportunities for all. One of SDG4’s targets is education for sustainable development and global citizenship to be realized in 2030. Its purpose is to ensure all learners gain knowledge and skills for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, and a culture of peace and non-violence. The research reported here aims to examine the role of character education in realizing SDG 4 and in welcoming a Golden Indonesia in 2045. This research uses a literature review method and examines theories related to the topic. One of the solutions that can help realize the SDG4 is implementing character education in learning at all levels of education in Indonesia. Character development in educational institutions is not only part of religious and civic subjects, but in all subjects and learning activities. Character values can also be realized in curricular activities and school culture. Finally, the richness of local wisdom in Indonesia as a multicultural country can also be an asset in realizing the SDG 4 and welcoming Golden Indonesia.
