Nanomaterials for Sensing Applications: Present and Future in Medicine, Packaging, and Quality Control
摘要
Nanotechnology has the potential to address various challenges in engineering, materials science, chemistry, physics, biology, and medicine through sustainable nano-materials. Nanomaterials have been widely utilized to identify the current problem and their solution in various sectors like medical, food, industrial, agricultural, energy, biodefence, pollutants, pesticides, water purification, and waste management. Nowadays, Nanotechnology-based nanosensors are becoming an essential part of our modern lifestyles. Due to their small size and lightweight, nanosensors have been thoroughly investigated and used for sensing applications in many domains. In this chapter, we have covered the present scenario of nanosensors in the medical and packaging sector and discussed its quality control and future prospects. The chapter briefly introduces nanosensors and their application in various fields, the working principle of nano biosensors, and the application of nanosensors in the medical sector, like cancer diagnosis, drug delivery systems, MRIs, and nanobots. Besides this, the potential of edible coating and the role of metal nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes in food packaging are also discussed, as well as their toxicological effect and major challenges in the sector.
