Resource Management of Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) Enabled 5G IoT Networks
摘要
The dramatic growth of mobile devices and the use of user data will result in exceptional difficulties to manage in the current mobile network. It may decrease data quality and service quality of the network. Next generation network 5G and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) technologies are the desired solutions to manage the resources of mobile networks. Quality of Services (QoS) of end to end mobile network can be provided by combining MEC network with 5G. MEC is an intermediate network between end devices and back bone network. The end device network may include varity of Internet of Things (IoT) enabled 5G applications. MEC servers are processing huge amount data received from the users. This overburdens the MEC servers. Resources like Band Width (BW) management is necessary. So balancing the load of servers is essential for efficiency usage of BW. Service efficiency, system performance, and operating costs have been improved by using appropriate load balancing algorithm on MEC servers. The authors have introduced mobility load balancing in MEC network with 5G to prevent service interruptions due to unequal load. The proposed algorithm Load Balancing Efficiency Factor (LBEF) considers the load on MEC server connected to different neighbouring cells. Edge user equipment of each of the overloaded cells are considered to determine the load efficiency factor. It specifies the sequence of overloaded cells and starts offloading process in them. The proposed method of load balancing on MEC servers in 5G increases the throughput of network with minimal standard deviation.
