Enrichment of Impedance Bandwidth and Co-Polarization to Cross-Polarization Isolation of Circular Patch Antenna with Rectangular DGS Structure
摘要
A coaxial probe feed single element circular patch antenna (CPA) with rectangular shape defected ground structure (DGS) at the radiating edge on RT-Duroid substrate (εr = 2.33) has been studied in this paper. Consequential enhancement of impedance bandwidth and co-polarization to cross-polarization isolation (polarization purity) has been observed from the proposed structure. The proposed structure provides around 31.5% impedance bandwidth and 24 CP-XP isolation which is quite good as compared to conventional circular patch antenna. The classical CPA structure and proposed structure show good impedance matching and stable radiation pattern within the operational frequency. The defected ground structure geometry is very simple and easy to manipulate; therefore, this present structure might be ideal for the application in the wireless communication system where high bandwidth, good polarization purity, and the stable radiation pattern are required.
