Geological heritage stands as a fundamental pillar in our comprehension of Earth's vast history, offering profound insights into the diverse and dynamic processes that have sculpted our planet over billions of years. From the ancient rock formations that whisper tales of tectonic movements to the intricate layers of sediment that chronicle climatic shifts and biological evolution, these geological marvels serve as nature’s own archives. This chapter embarks on a comprehensive exploration of geological heritage on a global scale, delving into its multifaceted significance across scientific, educational, cultural, and economic realms. Scientifically, geological heritage provides an invaluable record of Earth's past environments and the forces that have continuously reshaped its surface.
