Heritage sites have played a crucial role in the economic development of historic cities. Today, urban heritage has become a popular tourist destination in many countries. This paper aims to provide insight into the existence of urban heritage sites and their relevance to tourism development in Banda Aceh, Aceh Province, Indonesia. The paper describes the diversity of heritage sites and their potential to enhance tourism attraction in the historic city. The analysis results show that tourism related to cultural heritage is increasingly in demand by various groups, both domestic and foreign tourists. We observe that historical mosques, ancient buildings, and tsunami sites are the most visited. We also observed that the trend of domestic and foreign tourists visiting is increasing. Finally, we conclude that cultural heritage in historic cities is an important asset that should be preserved in the context of urban tourism development.
