The objective of this paper is to investigate the residual displacement of high strength concrete column (HSC) confined by steel strap tensioning technique. Two (2) numbers of HSC column grade 85 MPa and three (3) numbers of grade 55 MPa are constructed to receive the innovative confinement technique. One unconfined control specimen is prepared from each concrete grade. Under simulated seismic load, the confined column performed better compare to unconfined specimen with less residual displacement. Effectiveness the confinement technique in terms confining configuration is discussed. The results proved that SSTT is a promising technique in improving the structure capacity of HSC column.
