Nowadays, the awareness of Malaysians on environmental issues has been a hot topic hence there is a blooming of many sustainable developments in Malaysia. Green residential buildings are designed and implemented to conserve energy, water and building materials to protect the environment. The developers should opt and construct a suitable sustainable residential building to attract the homebuyers in this competitive property market in Malaysia. The current state of the property market in Malaysia reveals an increasing number of overhang properties. This trend reflects the challenges property developers face in meeting the current expectations and market demands of consumers. This study focuses on Generation X, Y and Z and investigates their willingness to pay for green attributes through systematic literature review. The findings highlight the green attributes favoured by each generation and their corresponding willingness to pay, offering strategic insights for developers in designing suitable green residential buildings. By catering to the targeted generations with green attributes, environmental issues can be addressed and potential problems associated with an excess of green residential buildings can be reduced.
