This paper examines the outcomes and correlations between the chemical and physical characteristics of aged bitumen that incorporates a rejuvenator. Physical tests conducted to investigate these relationships include penetration (PEN), softening point (SP), viscosity, and bending beam rheometer (BBR). The chemical properties are tested using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Cecabase, an oil-based rejuvenator, is used in varying concentrations of 0.3%, 0.5%, 0.7%, and 1.0% by weight of the bitumen. The findings indicate an increase in penetration and a decrease in viscosity. As the cecabase percentage increases, the SP results show an increasing trend, which aligns with the BBR results. FTIR analysis reveals that the sulfoxide, carbonyl, and aromatic index ratios decrease while the aliphatic index increases, 7indicating oxidation during aging. The relationship between physical and chemical properties is that as the indicators of oxidation decrease, the physical properties of the recycled bitumen approach those of the control bitumen.
