Traditionally, the compilation of calendars has been one of the major responsibilities of official astronomical institutions. By dressing up in the cloak of astronomical mysteries and incorporating mystical meaning of numerals, the study of Yin-Yang selection has deeply impacted various aspects of society through the promulgation of calendars. Although the circulation of calendars has always been the highest among various types of ancient Chinese books, few have been able to survive to this day due to their highly time-sensitive content.
