Legend: RNFL: Mean Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer (thickness). Vsl: Mean thickness of the vessels. NV: Mean thickness of the non-vascular RNFL. In this project, the team worked with researchers to separate the neuronal and vascular components in 3D optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT) and OCT angiography (OCTA) images of the eye. OCT is a current clinical tool that allows measurement of nerve thicknesses in the eye, which is crucial for vision. Changes in the nerve thicknesses are used in the assessment of ocular and neurodegenerative diseases. However, current measurements include both neuronal and vascular content, which can confound interpretations of thicknesses, particularly in the presence of co‐morbidities such as hypertension which has been associated with enlarged vessels. In this report, the team will evaluate how the thickness of blood vessels in the RNFL affects the accuracy of the OCTA algorithm in diagnosing glaucoma using RNFL thickness.

摘要
