Data mining (DM) refers to a technique which carries out the analysis of big datasets and extraction of relevant information from them. It incorporates data collection, distribution, storage, exchange and publication. Hence, it presents a significant risk to any user’s privacy and confidentiality. Consequently, Privacy Preserving Data Mining (PPDM) happens to be of utmost significance. Here, the existing PPDM techniques have been classified and briefly elucidated. Also, a study of the commonly used PPDM techniques over the last two decades has been conducted.
