It also increases the risk of infections and raises the likelihood of developing cancer. This paper explores these various aspects to provide a complete understanding of RA’s broad effects. Mental health challenges are common in RA patients. Conditions such as depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbances often go unnoticed. This can complicate pain management and overall care. RA also causes both localized and systemic bone loss. This occurs due to disrupted interactions between the immune and skeletal systems. Inflammation-driven cytokine production and autoantibody activity speed up bone degradation. This increases the risk of fractures. RA raises the risk of infections and cancers. This is especially true for lymphoma and lung cancer. These risks call for careful screening and preventive measures. The disease also uniquely affects women. Issues like pregnancy and birth control need special attention. Menopause also plays a role. Hormonal changes and conditions like early menopause can alter RA risk and progression.
