For the ± 1100 kV UHV DC power transmission project, currently there is no mature design experience and complete theoretical system support in the world. Focusing on the construction and implementation needs, SGCC has organized a series of new technology research, and has achieved a number of key technological breakthroughs in DC systems studies, DC SLD and main circuit design, DC overvoltage insulation coordination, air gaps and DC external insulation, DC control protection and electromagnetic environment, providing strong technical support for the implementation of the ± 1100 kV UHV DC transmission project. This chapter provides a detailed introduction to the CG project.
