The Periphery: An Overview
摘要
After reviewing all known copper artefacts from the pre-Erlitou era across East Asia Mainland, focusing on the core areas of the Central Plains bronze civilisation and its immediate sphere of influence, we will now extend our overview to the peripheral regions surrounding the Central Plains. This will help us understand the furthest reach and diminishing influence of the bronze trend. The time frame is roughly limited to the Erlitou and Erligang periods, approximately 1700–1300 BCE. To clarify the process of bronze culture diffusion and the chronology of various regions entering the Bronze Age, our review will also extend to the Yinxu period and even later.
