In the current era, marked by the rise of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), various tools have emerged that energize and enhance the educational process with the aim of supporting the quality of teaching and learning. In this context, the present study aims to analyze the CodeCombat platform as an educational tool for teaching the fundamentals of Software Programming in the first year of the Computer Science track at the Educational Units of Catamayo during the 2021–2022 academic year. The study follows a deductive method, using a descriptive/correlational approach with a quantitative focus. Additionally, the observation technique and hoc matrices were used as research instruments. The study concludes that more than 50% of the content of the curriculum of the Ministry of Education of Ecuador, corresponding to the technical baccalaureate in Computer Science (subject Software Programming), coincides with the characteristics of CodeCombat. Therefore, the platform is considered an appropriate tool for teaching programming in the first year of the technical high school program.
